McDonald’s started in 1954 when Ray Kroc discovered the McDonald brothers’ restaurant in San Bernadino. Brothers Dick and Mac were serving high-quality burgers – and things were moving fast. Since then, McDonald’s has grown to become one of the world’s leading food and service brands, with 36 000 restaurants in over 100 countries.

In Sweden, it was Paul “Palle” Lederhausen who was commissioned to open the first restaurant at Kungsgatan 4 in Stockholm in 1973. Today, McDonald’s is Sweden’s largest restaurant chain with around 200 restaurants from Luleå in the north to Ystad in the south, serving around 400,000 guests every day.
